So here we were, locked in an epic struggle for pvp domination. Autocannons ripped into our thick alloy frames as well fired salvos of missiles and lasers back in defiance. Electronic countermeasures shutdown hostile logi and dps alike, but never for long enough. Both sides were escalating their own forces, bringing capitals through unstable wormholes.
AHARM's hole went critical under the strain first. They had shoved a Chimera and Revelation through, with the Chimera providing reps that were difficult to overcome for their fleet. This meant even a small mistake on our part could cost dearly. While we were able to get their Sabre and Phantasm, we lost too many of our own. Any losses was too many in my eyes, since our fleet should have been wary of their timers and spammed the jump button if they got burned down too fast. But it is what it is. The real surprise came when their Rev decided to warp into the hole. It wasn't at range, though.
He landed at 0 and immediately jumped through, crashing a large portion of our fleet with the hostile force. I had been polaritied after trying to hero-ECM their logi and a few dps so I got crashed into the hole with the dread. So did those of us in fleet that could handle said dread.
As soon as he decloaked, he began to chatter in local.
Redo Jorias > want to buy a rev? :)
Admiral Tomahawk > How much
Redo Jorias > 1b?
He deicded to initiate self destruct.
Admiral Tomahawk > Well not if yer gonna blow it up
Memoocan > really?
Blast GoDon > bad form :(
Redo Jorias > well. i'll cancel if you want it for 1b
Faeyen > we can buy
Blast GoDon > especially after that good fight
Redo Jorias > okay, cancelled
Redo Jorias > 1b for re
Redo Jorias > stop shooting tho
Faeyen > eject
Admiral Tomahawk > Lets do 750 mil
Admiral Tomahawk > and Ill buy it
Redo Jorias > 900mil i can do
Admiral Tomahawk > Im poor I havent played in awhile
Redo Jorias > 750m and bookmarks/ship out and a deal
Admiral Tomahawk > I cant speak for the corp on letting you leave
Redo Jorias > shrug, still shooting. want it or not?
Admiral Tomahawk > For 750 yes
Redo Jorias > for 750m and ship/bookmarks
While they talked about it, the rest of us just wanted blood and were happy enough that he canceled the SD. But just in case he decided to try again, we brought heavier dps and forcefully ejected his pod from the carcass of the once mighty Revelation. I guess he didn't see his odds as good since he warped to a moon and just sat there til we came and podded him.
The other half of our fleet was busy scrambling to get out to a safe system, which took quite a bit longer. We scooped the Rev's loot and began scanning out the new chain now that the system's static had been killed.
In no time at all, we ran into our buddies from The Red Circle, Inc. and found their home system. I guess they didn't want to play because they started crashing the connection into our transiting chain with some heavy metal. Our scout was on top of things and was able to hop in and grab tackle on their Fenrir, while other stuff scurried off. He had to swat a Dram that was being a pest and then we all tumbled in for the whale of a freighter. After another run in and finding another hole that went to AHARM's home system we decided it was time to call it a night and crash our way back home.
Quite the day, I have to say. Soon, I'll be done with the semester and back home. While school and the pregnancy have kept me pretty active, I'm always happy to be able to enjoy me some Eve.
Careful out there

Sleigh Bells Ringing
Well it seems my last post got Bob's, god of wormholes, attention in a pretty good way. While I lost my shiny new Proteus thanks to being barely out of jump range...that seems to be a recurring theme for me...and now I am broke, there is always fun to be had. And of course, my ECM tengu is a beast that has survived a ridiculously long amount of time.
The first episode in relieving my blue balls of loss and no blood comes in the form of late night studying. I stayed up all night last night working on a project that decides if I graduate college or not. Oh how I am hating design. Anyways, I logged in to tinker around with a few things and hear that one of our corpies is trying to pin down an Archon. Apparently I missed a whole shindig of facemelt as usual.
Oddly enough, this Archon was hard to catch and evaded for about 25 minutes. I didn't really expect much, so I shipped into my shield laser Myrm. I really need to get some better dps ships into wspace. I alt tabbed out of Eve and continued to work on my project, just listening. Another corpie went in to combat probe him down, hoping to get him. Now, this is where we got a bit fuzzy.
The new combat rules of aggression are still something we are ironing out. Thankfully, as long as you keep aggressing a target they stay physically in game so you can shoot them. No more logoffski-ing caps just to get away, although they can still SD. Aaaany time now CCP. Since none of us had aggressed him in a while, he could just log off and be safe. Which he decided it was time to do just that. Our scanner got a complete hit, warped in and tackled him. It was about a 1.5au warp from where the Archon had been previously and so it is tagging him was a bit easier.
But many of those online were not in wspace, they were off killing some boring Orca or something. So the few of us that were there piled in and started up the hurt. For only a handful of us, it went rather quickly thanks to no active reps. If he had logged back in and started them up, we would have been SOL. As it was, though, we plinked away until the monstrosity tore apart into hull fragments. The pod e-warped, but a quick probe fixed that issue as well. Cheap clone, but the carrier itself was nice since it dropped a little faction.
Now for the main course. The real cherry on the cake. I've talked about encounters with AHARM before yes? Of course I have, they usually are fun stories. It used to be that we ran into them in lower class systems from time to time in all sub cap fleets. We'd tussle and have it out. Well now when we run into them, things are a bit larger. In this case, they scanned our chain down, meeting us at a hole we had camped. Sadly, my little Daredevil is not an interceptor and while I had initial point and had tried to apply dps, he quickly ran out of the bubble and went home.
They knew where we were and they knew some of what we had in our fleet. From what we saw, they were gearing up and soon had their own force on the move. It wasn't long before clash of the titans began. They had rolled up in a shield fleet, complete with a mass of Sleipnirs, Tengus, and Basi support. Two Step, part of our current CSM lineup, even showed up to say hi. I don't think they have ever used ECM in our fights, so that tends to be one of our advantages when we tangle. Naturally, I filled that role and it was quite the nail biter. Their first attack saw our forces trading blows rather equally, until I decided to call their Phantasm primary. I don't normally FC a fight, but I had stepped up and started the list.
Then things got hairy. They kept bringing in more ships and their dps was getting insane. Since we were fighting at knife range, I couldn't begin kiting as usual and those of us that our logi couldn't save right away had to jump out. That's when a situation gets complicated in wspace. You have to be aware of when you jumped and how many times, if you're polarized and how that polarity will affect your own assistance in the fight. As ECM, my primary focus is jamming and surviving. I will not jump in knowing I will be polaritied unless I am confident reps can keep me up long enough.

The Warrior's Path
There are times in every Eve player's career when they just have one of those times they think "wow...that was just epic-ly full of epic epicness." And one of those times has come yet again for me.
I'll have a TL;DR at the end if this doesn't get put into two different posts. Basically, you want to look at our killboard and specifically at Oct. 1st. We can't even fit it all onto the front page it's so long..
So I woke up yesterday, late since it's the weekend and I am trying to avoid my work, and decided to pop on to update my PI and skills if they were running out. Bringing up comms gave me a bit of interesting chatter, the type that usually involves shooting someone. So I made a comment about how I was probably going to miss it since I just got on and needed to get bookmarks and all that jazz.
To which I got "No, you definitely won't miss it."
"Oh, I guess I'll get bookmarks and head out."
Listening to the chatter intently now, it seemed that we had been playing around with Narwhals Ate My Duck in our chain a bunch, popping some of their frig sized hulls and ended up running into White Noise in a nullsec link. We had tackled a Proteus that then got reinforced by an Archon.
So I hopped into my trusty Drakghar, a Legion with an interesting fit that has served me quite well. As I got out there, we were jamming the Archon and having to kill the Prot in between jams. It wasn't long before his tank gave way and melted under our fire. I think we also podded him. Nearly 2 billion worth of destruction in one small cruiser hull....astounding. All that was left was to work this Archon down before he decided to log or self destruct. Until the Chimera landed.
Our force was too small to burn the Archon and now the Chimera was going to make things even harder. But thanks to our two ECM pilots, of whom I have to give major props, they kept the Chimera jammed the whole time. The Archon kept cycling in and out of triage to get cap from the Chimera and keep his own reps up, despite our neuting power. It was like fighting uphill through molasses and every time you think you're at the top, a fresh wave of molasses hits you and drags you back. I just kept popping his drones and fighters, then back to neuting and dpsing the carrier itself. It was especially annoying when the Chimera started to smartbomb and nearly killed my entire flight of Hammerheads.
"Chimera disappeared! Chimera has logged!"
What?! With all our notifications, nobody has noticed him go and the Archon most likely wasn't far behind. But here's a couple stupid points I want to bring up. Amusing that it's, yet again, Russians doing it too.
- Log off timer for a cap is 15 minutes. Wtf is that about CCP? We don't roll in dreads or supercaps so downing caps in that time is stupid.
- Some modules shut off when you log, some don't. Cloaks decloak, but reppers keep running? CCP, fix it to be one way or the other for all modules.
So now it was a race against time and the carrier's offline reps. After a few heart pounding minutes, we finally had it capped out so that the reps stopped running. But now we needed to eat through 3/4ths of its armor and the structure before it disappeared. At this point, I began to cycle my overheating on and off to make my guns last as long as possible, but still get some good dps out of them.
It was getting so close and comms were getting quiet as it got closer. Pixel by pixel the armor chipped away and we all were urging it down further.
"It'll melt like butter when we get it to structure."
It felt like an eternity trying to wear it down, finally getting some excitement with structure bleed. We had no clue when he had logged and didn't know how long til we lost yet another cap kill to Russian flee tactics, but it was intense.
Structure. Everyone overheat! Burn that sucker down!
Then came the blessed explosion.
Wait...that Proteus was twice as expensive as the carrier? Yup...apparently so.
And wow what a way to start your day. But it seems this chain was to be the chain blessed by Bob, god of wormholes, and the chain that would keep on giving.
As we were fighting the Archon, a Narwhals manti had decloaked and then recloaked near us. We had also had some more of their cloakies following us around the chain, so it wasn't long til most of our fleet was nearly home and our scouts ran into a Harby, while its buddies staged in their home system.
Two of ours that had stayed at the nullsec engaged the Harby and, by a comedy of errors both jumped out when they thought he jumped. So he got back to the hole that went towards his home, only to run into another one of ours. Ohai der Mr. Harby. Uh....you seem to be missing a couple slots there bud. With the Ducks out killing Russians, I guess only alts are left to guard home.
That was when we moved the entire fleet to engage what force they had waiting. By the time we got there though, only a cane, guardian, brutix and something else that warped out was there. The cane got out thanks to someone getting jammed or something. It was ok though, for some reason both the Guardian and Brutix were pointed but didn't jump through the wormhole to run. Soon they both met their manufacturer.
This gave us a good bit to talk about as we headed home. But yet again, we would not make it there. Instead, a Duck ran around in his Loki and engaged one of our Tengus. So we all waited for it to jump into our fleet on the other side of the wormhole, while 2 of ours tried to break him. This wormhole was in the direction of the Duck home system.
Of course, this all got confusing when one of our pilots got engaged by the residents of the next hole over toward our home. Two conflicts at once made things frantic. Finally the Loki jumped in half armor and we polished off his Loki and pod. It seems it was the season for a Duck hunt. We then rushed to our corpmate's aid, who had been reinforced by one of our cloakies and both had been pushed through the wormhole before they got popped.

Keep an eye here, the second half of this whole story comes in the next post.

The Ups and Downs
Today was an interesting day in Eve for me. It was a contrast in experiences, with regard to shooting other people in the face.
It started when I had woken up and didn't have class for some time. Apparently, we had just scanned out a new static chain and had a few people poking around with probes of their own. So, instead of lumbering around in my Legion or Falcon as usual, I decided to ship into my Daredevil.
Now this ship is one that has been around a long time for me, much longer than I originally anticipated when Kane Rizzel, whose blog now gives me a malware warning lulz, gave me the little monster. For a while, since I was still a young E Uni pilot and blogger, I feared losing it. It was a gift after all and I didn't want to lose it stupidly.
Well I have repurposed it for wormhole hunting and lovingly named it Grim's Reaper, to be a fast tackle cov ops killer. I don't really use it at all, the only kill I think I've gotten in it was some miners. But today was to be different.
Settling into the smaller vessel, I initiated warp to our static connection to do the wonderfully enrapturing activity of staring at a wormhole. Sometimes, even shooting it. Gotta make sure those things don't get away, man. I noticed I wasn't in fleet yet, so I decided to do so after accidentally locking the wormhole up. Bad timing on my part because my client chose to lock up.
A Cheetah jumped in and decloaked. I could have sworn he jumped back out, but I think he just cloaked because he reappeared and tried to burn off the hole. That was a very stupid idea, since we had a Stiletto and Arazu with me. By this time, after a bit of muttered curses, I had the Cheetah locked and pointed, turning on my afterburner to hump his hull and light up my blasters. His fragile craft didn't last long. Even more surprising, perhaps because I am not at all used to fast locking and fast moving, I nabbed his juicy pod and didn't really wait to extract the corpse.
It was an amusing way to start the day and I was pretty excited to get the Reaper some action. But that was the extent of the goodness.
Later, I signed on just as one of our scouts was calling that he was tackling a Rook that was a few holes away and one I didn't have bookmarks for in the first place. *cough*ccpdocorpbookmarks*cough*
That pilot decided it was cool to come to our public and be a bit butthurt. I'm not really sure when people are going to realize that there are no fair fights and if you wander around solo in a wormhole without a cloak, you are asking to get ganked...anywho.
The next disappointment came when we were picketing our static system since probes were moving around. I had gotten distracted with some work while I was sitting cloaked on a hole when a Thorax jumped and randomly warped off. He soon came back and our Stiletto was waiting, but he did some jumping. As I go to jump, my system thinks now is a perfect time to freeze my comms and crash Eve. What. The. Frell. (5 isk to whoever knows where that word is from)
So there you have it. Wormhole space is a harsh mistress that will take as much as give, if not more. I should probably also start mentioning Bob in these posts somewhere. My corpies would say I'm some sort of heathen not to be proselytizing the wormhole god in all his power. Bob giveth and all that.
So I sleep now, hoping for better blood tomorrow

Olga Got Thirsty
So I haven't really come up with a better name yet...sue me. It fits her after all, being so big and...well not that I am implying anyone named Olga is necessarily big, but..you know....oh nevermind.
Last week or so I saw fit to release my beautiful beast from the shackles of station life, tentatively undocking and vigorously spamming the warp command until she was safely away. My poor mouse. Happily, she gracefully slid into motion like a massive pair of hippie pants, albeit deadly hippie pants. She is not quite as ludicrously expensive as she will be sometime soon, but she is enough so that I can make good use of her. Or stare at while in the relative safety of the shiny bubble I call home.
I figure there are few times I shall use her, but I shall find as many as I can. Frankly, I surprised myself tonight by using her before I even thought her fit to do so. Oh, but I quite enjoyed it and it left me wanting more so let me regale you, my dear reader.
As I logged into comms, things were peaceful and I drifted away from my station to be with a pretty lady. After a bit of watching sharks on the tele, I heard comms get a bit chatty. So I nipped over to see what the fuss was about and it seemed to be that we had some neighbors getting a bit cheeky. And by cheeky, I mean they tried to scan down some of our pilots who were innocently mining away. So there was talking and some scouting and analyzing and some eyes that glazed over after the minutes just dragged on. Admittedly I owned said eyes, but it really did just drag. This went for a long time, til finally we had been sitting on our connecting hole with a few chaps when one of them decided to have a poke about.
Bad move, mate.
His little covert ops frigate made a mighty dash and got a cloak up. With a bit of grumbling we sped around until he made an encore appearance. I don't think he got along with our fastlock. And then off went his pod, bouncing around the system avoiding us. And here we just wanted to help him find his way out...through some cloning facilities, perhaps, but in the nice way of course.
Apparently he got bored, since he logged. This got his buds into a bit of motion as they were bouncing all over at range on their side. I guess they wanted their friend back, but obviously not that badly if they weren't going to come get him. So it went for a loooong time, us watching them try to decide to do like a barrel of ADD fish. At this point I had gotten into a frigate to catch the pod and our fleet had diminished drastically. I felt a bit vulnerable and fragile, so I decided to get a bit beefier. Hence Olga coming out to play. Even this was in a bit of jest, since I never thought to actually use her. Just pretend to crash our hole and force their hand or give them shiny bait. The hippie pants can be quite compelling.
More back and forth between the two sides and finally one of ours logs in with his Mach to go straight for them. At this point, the opfor finally amassed two Tengus, a Rokh, Legion, Proteus, Scorpion, and a Harbringer. I thought there were more T3s but it's late so who knows. Anyways, they decide to finally engage our poor lone Mach. This brings the rest of our fleet, which had refilled and then some to quite the force. Then it was on.
I urged Olga through the wormhole with soothing murmurs of blood to come. She must have understood, because she went eagerly. The only Tengu to actually arrive was first on the menu, but out of my range so I went to work on the Legion who was in hump range. Webs and point on, drones launched and snack time commenced as he graciously began to melt. It was not quick enough, however, as he decided to jump out of the fray. Sad Vindi is sad. Back to the Tengu!
No matter, there are others about. It was at this point I noticed neuts from the Rokh eating my capacitor away. So like a booze hound begging for change, I drank from the faucet of cap boosters and kept my point bouncing around to targets I didn't hear were pointed. Bad idea that, since the Legion came back through and poofed away along with the Rokh leaving our party. No worries, as we had a few others to chew into. As an ECM enthusiast, it was my pleasure to burn this terribad fit into space since he had been shutting down most of our points. Then I noticed the naughty little Harby that was trying to sneak out the back, like some bad houseguest. Well, 90% webs will do the trick for that and make short work of poor manners.
Alas, twas all that we would have of these fellows after we cleared the field of debris. I guess their friend was not worth it as we soon found his corpse in space...what a tease. At least it has a good home now.
It felt good to get a bit of blood all over Olga, she's kinky like that. It also gave me a good gauge for what she can handle as far as cap warfare and engagement range or engagement type. But I loved every second of it, expense justified.
And with that I bid you adieu. I believe I shall make my fashionably late analyzation of the latest dev blogs in my coming posts, but for now sleep beckons.
Don't be afraid to get a little wild sometimes

Alliance Tourney 9
The teams have been getting whittled down and now the matches are being shown on EveTV. Each year, alliances pay to duke it out and find who the best is in the arena.
Pandemic Legion has taken the gold, so to speak, year after year in recent history. Will they be unseated this year? It will take a brilliant strategist to bring them down, or just pure driving willpower. It is certainly interesting to see the choices of loadout different teams choose in hopes of climbing the ladders. There has been quite a bit of shield gangs with logi support. I wouldn't want to lose a Tengu just for the tourney, but it seems many are doing just that.
The tourney is also a good way of showing people a fun part of Eve. There are a couple friends of mine that are always saying they want to see something actually happen, not just me sitting in space. That's hard to just have happen on a whim, but this is the perfect event to show them things that go boom.
So kick back and enjoy

Kspace Crunch
I've mentioned how living in wormholes can alter your mindset and operational procedures quite drastically, within weeks of living there much less 6 months. Well, that was brought to the forefront and waved around madly like a man in front of a speeding truck. Except that the truck ignores it and just barrels through the man.
Kinda like I did. And which is why Memoo now has a security status of -1.58. Oh my.
Our wormhole chain was a rabbit warren of links with enough links to kspace to have any type of space you want. We had countless bookmarks with links to 20 systems. Yes, twenty. Annoyingly enough, the majority of the night was extremely boring and had nothing going on in any of them. Seriously, does nobody live in wspace anymore? Anyways, so some of us decided to go out into lowsec and poke around. It was a jump from nullsec and an Archon had been spotted briefly, so there was bound to be something. I get bored and just wanna kill stuff so I went out.
Well, there kind of wasn't. Nothing we could go after at least. So we went to the nearby nullsec and poked in, while the others stayed in lowsec. Next thing I hear is one of us engaging a Hurricane on a gate and he said he was aggressed. So I warp straight at him and get my mods hot. The gate? Turns out to be a mission gate. Warning message in my face? Odd, since he supposedly aggressed first. Oh well, ignore and begin the pew! The cane melted fasted under my neuts and my corpies guns. Then again, you can see for yourself why. Aaaah my eyes! Such terribad fittings in lowsec! The gate? Turns out to be a mission gate. Not only do we get that, in my adrenaline fueled haste we nab the pod. Oh yes, my gut instincts were raging at me to make sure he gets podded back to kspace where he belongs....forgetting that I am not in null nor am I in wspace. Craaaaaap. "For your participation blahblahblah sec status lowered 3.115164 pts."
Hooraay, I'm nearly a criminal! I went from 0.3 to -1.58 in a matter of seconds thanks to my forgetfulness and bloodlust. Which really isn't an issue since I can still go anywhere I want. It's close to getting bad though so I will have to do some nullsec ratting soon. I'm still kind of chuckling about it.
I have also noticed my desire for more shinies. I am loving my Legion, but I want to get back to real damage at some point. I have started training up T2 lasers, my first T2 in the gunnery section, as well as hybrids. I have 2 other Legion fits in mind, another T3 to train for and many other ships on my list of things to get or at least fly. I am ridiculous. All of that on top of sekrit stuffz I need to train for instead.
So remember kids, podding in lowsec is bad for your health unless you live there. Remember your timers and consequences or you may be in for some trouble.

That Which Doesn't Pod You, Only Makes You Smarter
Welp, I just hit the 6 month mark of being in Adhoc and living in wormholes. Half a year already? Wow...on the one hand it feels like I just got here, but on the other like I've always been here and never played any other part of Eve. Which is ok with me, wspace is what has kept me addicted to this mistress of a game. And now I realize it's been a year of me playing in general and here I didn't do anything special. Hmm...might have to fix that.
It's been an amazing 6 months and there will certainly be plenty more to come. My first week I saw and helped steal my first dread, bashed my first tower and it's been a long list of firsts ever since then. I went from 'roid drilling carebear to bloodthirsty warbear pretty quickly. I kind of miss mining sometimes and we do get sites to mine, but my carebearing is mainly restricted to PI nowadays and the occasional mission.
I think my skill sheet can show how chaotic my path has been. It's all over the board, only recently becoming more focused and solid. Goodness, I'm coming up on 20 mil SP even and my stash of shinies still confuses me. 2 Tech 3 ships that I can fly well in a year is not bad by my ruler, among the other stuff. I am still loving my Falcon, it is the best ECM platform after all. In fact, we have been getting some good fights and ganks lately, one of which we actually needed the Falcon.
We were running Sleeper sites in our static connection as some of our cloakies scouted around and kept eyes out. Since we were flying a shield gang, I was able to use my Thundercat Tengu. I keep intending to take it into kspace and leave it there for missioning...I just never seem to get around to it. Anyways, one of our cloakies found a new hole and jumped in, only to squawk a second later about a gang sitting on the other side.
"Two Machariels, Scimi, Loki, and more landing." He called.
This just got fun and it always seems to happen when we try to PvE. I'm ok with that. It seemed that they saw our Noctis cleaning up behind us and were looking to ruin our carebear party. We don't go outside the POS in anything that can't fight on the whole, so they were more than welcome to try. But when we heard what they had and weren't sure if their numbers would swell, we decided to play it safe and switched to Guardian backed armor ships. In all honesty and without trying to sound arrogant, when we field them we are a force to be reckoned with in Eve. It takes extremely overwhelming force or a bad situation to get us on a bad foot when we get the thirst.
Apparently, running back home got them trigger happy though. A buzzard had scanned our hole down and two things started happening. The buzzard decloaked and jumped in to our system, seeming to not mind a suicide mission. We had no fast tackle sadly so he got away, but not before I got his name and added him to my watchlist. We got your number, Austex. Their gang started moving at the same time.
They thought we were running? I'm not sure if their buzzard simply didn't get a look at what we had as he changed his pants, but suddenly they were landing. On our hole. Right on it. And jumping in?
They decloaked in piecemeal, kicking us into immediate action of grabbing point and lighting them up. Laser fire cut through the black of space and I decloaked to lay some ECM smackdown.
That's when they realized how bad a decision it was to come to us. We were ready with a good force much faster than they predicted and happy to meet them. One of ours had the Scimi tackled and was pounding on it on the opposite side, making their day even worse. He eventually jumped in and started repping the Loki, but not before their forces began to panic and scatter. We gave chase, their Scimi oddly staying in our Scimi with one of our new recruits to keep him company. In what seemed a hiccup in our communications, points were spread as much as we thought, so three of them warped out. Pushed for more blood by this, we finished burning the rest to rubble and spacedust. When all was settled and accounted for, it seems we lost 3 of them but got some great kills. And now we saw why they failed.
They had jumped a Mach onto a hole in the first place, which a sniper BS is not supposed to do but it was understandable if they thought they were chasing. That allowed us to get under his guns quite easily. 3 faction sebo's though? I don't mind gettin' paid. They also had brought a Scimitar, the Minnie shield logi in with an armor gang and he was rather easy to jam. Pro.
A good fight over all and they brought it, so props. We don't get enough fun like that, but the Narwhals always seem willing which is cool. Oh yea...I was dualboxxing that entire fight. That was my first time fighting with two clients on the same screen...on a laptop. Canhazkudos?
As is the case in just about any sec, sometimes you get fights all the time and sometimes it's nothing for weeks. I am happy to take them where I can get them in between RL engagements. I also am happy to get blood on my Legion again...I wonder how it feels about killing its own kind. Oh well.
There you have it, 6 months and still kickin'. I have learned much and continue to do so each time I log on. Adhoc is still recruiting the Euro/Aussie times so head on to Adhocracy Public and give a shout if you're interested.

There Goes the Neighborhood
I've been having some interesting reads lately. First up, there's the new patch coming out Thursday. A very interesting change, especially for the carebears among us. I am a bit interested considering I plan to mission when I have the time, mainly for standings and LP. This is just makes things...different. Let's break it down.
As of now, mission agents have a quality that essentially tells you how good the rewards will be from them. It's based on standings and some skills, but it still leads you in a line up the ladder of agents to better and better quality. Each agent also has their own department, everything from administration to R&D. This tells you the types of missions you will get from them...mostly. You will still get a few other random types thrown in, which can be annoying when you are only set up for combat and your combat agent just gave you a mining mission. Welp, forget all that.
Starting Thursday, your mission rewards will be based on the security status of the system you are in and no longer have their own quality. The departments will also give strictly their type of missions, no divergence. That is a welcome change in my eyes, but using the system's sec status is an iffy one. CCP is essentially trying to push MR's into lowsec, with the temptation of more shinies. I am highly skeptical it will work, since hubs will simply move to 0.5 systems, not wherever the best agent happens to be. The risk:reward is something that has needed work, but will this be the proper answer? As a corpmate stated, lowsec missioning can be quite "ass in the wind" type of operating. It's not bad if you watch local and Dscan, but some people just can't be arsed to actually put effort into MRing.
So, what does this mean? Well let's just say I will be missioning hardcore with SOE for the next couple of days. Might as well make it work to my advantage ;)
There are, however, other changes that caught my eye. Your onboard system scanner, NOT your Dscan, that is able to detect the presence of anomalies is getting a beef up to the 64 AU range and the time goes down to 10 sec. That is amazing for WH dwellers. Not only are you able to find everything in one go, except for those massive systems, and run them, but hunting just got sooo much easier.
And speaking of easier, it seems scanning is getting a bit of a face lift, the wording of which is slightly confusing. Suffice to say, you may not have to agonize so much over positioning and such, making it more dangerous to be hunted by combat probes. Fun times to come >:)
There you have it, Eve gets a little more interesting each day. Whether that's a good or bad interesting is up to you. Oh yes, and I FINALLY got some real blood on my Legion. Sadly, our KB is down at the moment so I'll have to ninjaedit the KM. Basically, we had Russians in our static link and found them to be in 3 Tengus, a Broadsword, Cane, Scorp and a Pilgrim. We scanned one down sitting at a moon...doing nothing, except when myself and my corpie jumped in to kill he turned on hardners. So we thought bait with the escalation. Nope, just ganked him and he got into another Tengu at their POS. It took something like an hour to finally get them to engage...on a highsec hole of all things! My Legion was the bait, so I took a pounding. It held up stalwartly, they could only slowly chip away at my armor and allowed our fleet to land and start the fun. I had beaten a Tengu into armor, but was forced to jump to safety and get the cap back the Pilgrim had stolen. In the end, we didn't get any kills and neither did they, but I had a blast and props to them for engaging on a highsec hole.
There you have it. I am awaiting a mail from EON as you may have noticed I took down the ads. I am hoping to get an EON one up, with the bonus of a free sub for them.
Enough of my rambling. Go enjoy the summer sun

Let's Get Ready To Rumble
It's that time of year again when alliances gear up for a chance at the limelight that is the Alliance Tournament. This event is exciting, action packed mayhem of bracketed Pvp. Each alliance gets the chance to show their prowess and skill in intel as well as battle against each other, all the for opportunity to claim champion.
AT9, as it has been for years now, will be broadcasted live over the internet courtesy of Eve Tv. The Devblog detailing this year's rules and allowances gave quite a stir when the rule of banning an opponent's ship was introduced. It got so much pilot attention that CCP decided to withdraw the rule of banning and hope to come up with something else that is a little more thought through as well as something to give this year its own flavor.
While not as game changing as banning, the point system is getting a bit of a change itself.
- Tier 1 Battlecruisers, Cruisers and HACS have all had their point values lowered. Marauders also have been lowered.
This is quite interesting as those ships will see far more use in the fighting and different strategies open up to the teams. Some things are staying the same:
- Flagships: Definitely making a return, officer mods and all! You will also be able to change their fitting from match to match
Flagships can turn the tide of a battle, except if I remember correctly the other side is able to see what you have. There is a strategy in itself by designating a flagship and never fielding it, giving false intel or the possibility thereof. This event is hardcore metagame, strategy, and tactical ingenuity. Of course, that's why it's so great to watch.
So, who is your money on for making it into the finals? To be come champion?

When You Have More Isk Than Sense...
"Combat probes within 4 AU of us."
The alert certainly got all of us perked up as we camped a connection, waiting for the residents of that hole to come out and play. A few moments later there was more comm chatter, "Falcon on scan now. Get ready, they have us pinpointed."
With opportunities from two directions, this was getting interesting. We had popped a few of the idiots on top of their POS and stolen all of their POS modules. Don't leave your stuff unanchored around us. They had a carrier pilot logged in and we were hopeful, but nothing had happened in a while. In such a mixed fleet, we weren't sure what this new contact would turn out to be.
One of our pilots decides to find where they came from, finding a new connection in system and waiting on it. Fifteen minutes go by without anything happening from either side. Then we find out what found us.
"Tengu on sca--Tengu on grid, Tengu on grid."
The scout then called out more targets. Three Tengus, Eos, Drake, and two Scimitars. That can be a nasty fleet in the right hands. It didn't seem to be, though, since the Tengu dropped on us alone...then a Loki and another Tengu..then the Drake...and the Falcon decloaked, I had jams on all of them except the Drake. I was suddenly quite happy I had 3 Caldari jammers from a previous fight.
Two of our pilots had gone to their home connection, holding back the Eos even though it was still providing bonuses. They harassed it into jumping back out and the Scimitars decided to hang back to keep it alive. That was a big mistake.
Their fleet engaging our main force didn't know we held reserves and started jumping into the hole we had been camping. We pursued after taking care of a the Drake and his pod. I had to bounce, once to get rid of incoming damage when they initially dropped onto us and then again because I had come back at range. By the time I was able to jump in and lock the targets, they were starting to bleed into armor and on their way to space dust and shiny loot. Seriously...more ISK than brains it seems.
They seemed to start panicking because they were jumping back and forth through holes like rabbits, getting polarized and letting our teams work them down to nothing. We lost the Loki somewhere in the system we killed those Tengus, so we moved back to two systems over to finish off the Eos. The scimitars were burning away from us and I couldn't jam them correctly the entire time, so they were able to GTFO.
So, while we were hoping for a carrier to come play I will definitely settle for over 7 billion from those guys and no losses for us. The best part was that so much of the faction loot dropped for us. Shiny, shiny ISKies. This also ended a semi-dry spell for my Pvp. Quite a nice way to do so, I'd say. Our fleets are getting more and more deadly, even when it's a scramble.
I am finishing off Vs for my Tengu and thinking I might try level 4 missioning. Never done it alone and I hear it's good money so I could put this thing to use. I am working on getting a different ship for our fleets to rock the dps. Man...I am so ADD with my training.

New ADHC Vid/Clear Skies 3 Full Trailer
Just saw a post from one of my corpmates, Asay'anami Dei, who is our in house video wizard. He makes us look all cool and deadly. It seems he's been hard at work and has another video out now, so I wanted to bump it and show you what we've been up to.
Do the evolution from Asayanami Dei on Vimeo.
EDIT: This may actually just be an re-upload of an older vid to Vimeo. That site is much nicer than most. Either way, you can tell I'm too lazy to check.
EDIT Dos: This far into my blogging, you've noticed I'm terrible and tend to edit things constantly. I'm OCD it seems. SO! I also found out that Clear Skies 3 has a full trailer out. Wooooot! If you haven't watched Clear Skies 1 or 2, it's a must for Eve players. Great writing, great execution, funny as all get out. I'm pretty psyched.
Enjoy ;)

Solo Frig Fighting
Welp...it's official. I utterly fail and I am kinda starting to dislike soloing. I fail at it, hard. I knew this already, but I tried a lot recently and failed hard.
A corpmate had the awesome idea of a frigate dueling league. This combines the awesomeness of frig tourneys with something a little more long term. You can challenge anyone that has signed up and use any fittings up to Tech 2. You get a ref to check your fits and go at it, all with rankings and everything. It got me pretty fired up and I brought in 4 or 5 frigs to fit and challenge others. Within a day I already had a couple people challenging me, ironically.
My first fight was in my Tristan, a ship I really miss and love. I was up against a Kestrel and confident in being able to take it down. Little did I know it was armor tanked and ate straight through my tank, even as I overheated my repper. My first loss.
My second fight, I tricked out a Merlin since I am heavy in Caldari skills. I made some wrong assumptions and went against a Rifter that blew me into dust. Fail.
Third in line, I'm looking for blood in an Imicus with a fit I thought was clever. Again, made wrong assumptions since my opponent nearly always flies Caldari. Turns out he also came in an Imicus. I stupidly didn't attack his drones with mine, but it was a close fight. We both ended in structure, but again my loss.
And tonight my last humiliation. I fitted a Rifter with Gallente/Caldari Ewar and arty, sporting a MWD.
It was an interesting fight, I was able to get 50km on my opponent and had him jammed most of the fight. But I wasn't doing the DPS I needed and wasn't cap stable. So when he finally grabbed a lock on me, he lit up neuts and his ACs, wiping me out completely. Depressing.
So I think I am giving up on solo. At least in frigs, I may go at it for cruisers or battleships if we go that high. It's fun and I am definitely happy to have fought, I went in with some crazzzzy fits. Thankfully our KB doesn't track those losses since it's against corpies, even in BattleClinic does. This certainly makes things a little more interesting than POS spinning, even just watching is awesome. It's a wonderful way to try your hand and test your skills as well as vent at each other by blasting faces.
If you find me in a frig and watch me immediately warp away, you'll know why. I never trained much in such small weapons anyways, so I'm kind of at a disadvantage. Perhaps I'll change that in the future.
All fun at the end of the day

Wherein We Melt Face and New Shinies
"Check check, hostiles are within four AU of my position. They are incoming." Mem listened to his corp mate over the channel beneath the safety of his cloak.
He watched his overview blink. "No, they are on grid now. Buzzard and Drake he--check that, 'Phoon with 3 drakes, phobos, and more landing."
It seemed that sitting at the sun did work quite well, even if it screamed bait. The hostiles seemed obliging and it was about time. It had been a while since Mem had been in a good fight and they had taken their time to take the bait.
"Please jam the Drakes as quickly as possible." His corpie instructed.
"Consider it done." Mem replied as he de-cloaked and began locking down the entire enemy force, aligning to the nearest planet. Never enough Caldari jamming programs when I need them, he thought with annoyance.
He started the counter measures on as many ships as he could, most doing their duty while some failed. The buzzard was starting to burn out of the Phobos' bubble and toward Mem, so he released his drones and assigned them to it along with a counter measure that was freed up as a Drake warped out. His fleet was beginning to land.
"Bubble is down, start landing points, people."
Ships began to bleed shields and armor was stripped from their hulls, the damage mounting more as ships continued to land.
Soon the field was silently strewn with pulverized pieces of titanium metal and frozen corpses. The wreckage was already being looted and the fleet reforming back on their connecting wormhole.
"I'll salvage the Phobos wreck, the rest aren't worth it." He keyed over comms. It was always good to get some use out of so much destruction.
Chatter was droning between fleet members, but he didn't notice until someone called out.
"Chimera, repeat they have pulled out a Chimera and they are reshipping into a shield gang."
Memoo recloaked and started motoring towards a planet, just in case. It proved a prudent decision, since a Sleipnir landed a few moments later.
The fight was pretty cool and the fact that they brought round two was even better. We don't run into many people willing to bring the fight in wspace. And lately it seems killing carriers is becoming a regular thing for us. Best way to describe it was something two corpies said later:
-Most people must see a carrier and run away. ADHC froths at the mouth...
-Yeah people with carriers think they are scary. They are a flame to our moths.
The amazing part was how fast we reacted. We didn't have logi, but they had a basi on scan so a couple of ours reshipped very quickly and, I have to say, our Falcons did a stand up job. Not that I'm biased. Of course not.
The rest of the fight went well, with the subcap enemies warping in and out when we lost points, but not doing much of anything to us. The last to be around was a Ferox getting reps from the carrier even though it was only a matter of time til he succumbed. A Tengu also kept warping in at range, each time I was able to perma-jam him thankfully. I hate even yellow boxes as an ECM pilot. It was the best fight I've had in a long time and they even had a good time, giving GFs in local. I'm proud of our guys..and gals ;) for their awesome efforts on such short notice. Of course, this is taking place when I'm supposed to be doing work, but don't tell anyone.
Beyond that? After the fight, we had a good kspace link and I went out in my pod to Jita. Waiting there was my brand new and beautiful Tengu. Ooooh yeeaaaa, I have finally become a Tech 3 owner and lover. I've fought with myself between 2 or 3 diff types of fits due to my limited ISK. I think I am happy with what I have, I'll get the other subsystems another day when I recoup the financial hit. For now, I am giddy as a...well I am happy. There's even ECM subsystems *evil cackle*

Return to Normalcy
I am not yet there for the full return, but I am close. Finals end next week so I am slowly dying from everything I have to do til then. Between schoolwork and ingame events, writing has taken a backseat. Sorry about that...life happens I suppose.
Lots has been happening in our little wormhole home. There have been multiple times I log in to find we just had a massive fight and I missed it all. *le sigh* And I mean big. The reports are always borked, but whatever you get the idea. There are usually multiple rounds of fighting and both sides getting stomped. Oh well, I am happy to have the fights I get into and we certainly look for them everywhere. We have even gotten into a lot more roaming in lowsec and bashed another POS. That always makes for interesting situations when most of my corpmates have forgotten mechanics that apply. There was also, apparently, a Golem that came into our home...and talked in local saying (s)he? was just passing through. We don't keep local up, so she disappeared pretty quickly. If you go into a wormhole, especially when you know it is occupied, never talk in local. You are giving free intel and alerting them to a threat that anyone worth their guns will exterminate. Especially when you're in a Marauder that makes our KB look so good.
I have also had my chance at using the Noctis. What do I think of it? It's the sex of salvaging vessels. Even with it only trained to the first level you have a 32km range on tractors and it's hard to keep up when it blows through wrecks like they aren't there. One Noctis can salvage faster than people can kill, something much appreciated in wspace, where the less time exposed the better. Speaking of new ships, it seems CCP is giving us another. The Echelon eh? Personally, I see it being about as useful as the Zephyr...which is not much at all. Perhaps it'll be useful for the Incursions...but it's too fragile and not worth risking just for being a dedicated hacker. So I hope you like station bling! I'll have to come out to kspace to redeem it I suppose. The longer I am in wspace...the less I like doing that. I feel so exposed and vulnerable, ironic isn't it? Fighting is less fun, as well, when everyone runs away and then smacks that we are nothing but carebears. You have noticed my negative sec status yes? I also find that I desire less and less to kill Sleepers as I once did. We can get a bit bloodthirsty and I have embraced it. I am anxious to get into a Falcon or Rook soon to be of more utility. Although, I have been loving my bomber. It has so many uses and packs a punch. I have gone into structure twice, but have yet to lose my little Garrote.
The learning skill change is coming up and I am still wondering where I will stick those few skill points. This will certainly help my alt tremendously and I can't wait. He is closer and closer to getting into an Orca every day. And now I am thinking, after Orcas, he will be a HAC pilot. Maybe. What are you using the SP for?
I am thinking I may start explaining wormhole life a bit better in future posts. What I need from you all is, what do you want to know? What is obvious and what is a little more vague? I will do my best to maintain opsec for the corp, but I'd love for more people to come to wspace.

Positive Run for a Negative Status
Tonight was a different turn of routine for some of the corpies. We left the wormhole for a few hours. *gasp* I know, I know Kspace is scary right? After a small introverted inspection, I am amused how quickly my perceptions in Eve have changed since I moved into wspace. It makes me think that perhaps I should have been here long ago, as natural and comfortable as it is for me now. We see Kspace as something less desirable because of local, gate mechanics, sec hits...everything you get to avoid in wormholes. Many people see null sec as "end game" in Eve, but it isn't that way for us. Wormholes is how it should be played and learned. The average wormholer is more capable in many ways, in my humble opinion, than most Kspace inhabitants simply due to the nature of the environment.
Anyways, back to the action. We rallied in our highsec system and got everyone shipped into cheap T1 cruisers. We weren't suicidal, but we were aiming to trade them for good kills. Nothing like a good lowsec roam in throw aways. Initially it was a very small gang, but that grew a bit when word got out. So we headed out for the nearest Pvp hub, hunting along the way. What better place to start the night than Amamake itself. There had been a few neuts along the way, but nothing interesting enough. When we were on the gate heading into Ama, however, our FC decided to start small. A criminal vexor had dared to share our space, demanding his own end. He looked at me funny...he deserved fiery death. So we unleashed our fury on him as he predictably jumped into Ama with our backup tackle. I hadn't locked him in time, so I was able to jump in as well. Breaking my cloak on the other side, our tackler was working on the dirty scum as I laid down some meltage with my jammers. That's when things got really interesting and it all happened at once.
First, I took a sec hit. My first ever with Mem and it drew the ire of the gate guns. Being former Uni, I am usually on the other side of the fight. So stupid me was burning at our target as he was speeding away. In a Blackbird, gate guns are death, or nearly so. At the same time, a Jag had engaged the fleet and a Minnie gang had landed on the other side of the gate. Our tackle valiantly held his ground, bleeding armor at alarming rates. I was not close enough to get any reps on him...yes I had medium reps...and he lost the tackle, but picked up the Jag as the fleet beat his face inside out. I was able to get a cycle off just as I was warping. The gate guns hurt....alot. So I bounced to a station on accident in my rush...taking more fire...and then finally on to planets and new BMs I dropped for bouncing. In hindsight, that Vexor was a bad choice, but it was still alot of fun. We didn't even lose anything.
So now I'm flashy, bouncing around Ama when I see local. Someone said hi..to me? Oh! My wonderful friend and fellow blogger, Laedy. We had a good convo as I waited out my GCC...now I see why pirates want it shorter :P Can't wait for her to get some posts out again. After everyone was ready and I had repaired, we headed off. Moving through adjoining lowsec, we pushed on in our hunt. A few systems away, we had it. We sat on gate while our impromptu scouts worked the system. Lo and behold, a vile cousin of the Vexor scum jumped into us. The Ishtar was immediately called as target and we got to work. He stood no chance since the fleet was all together this time and promptly melted to our glorious T1 fire. The best part was he was flashy, so no sec hit and no gate gun fire, except for him.
We were quite happy with our luck, an hour or so in and we had two good kills. But it was hardly over. We were here to practice and practice would continue. Our FC had afk'ed, leaving his second in command for the Ishtar kill. He came back in time for us to head home, since it was extremely late. So we regrouped and set destination. It seems, in lowsec, when you are stirring the roost it pulls in attention. This was quite evident when we ran into a Ice Fire Warrior gang and a mix of neuts on a lowsec gate, leaving us in a Mexican standoff situation. Moving meant vulnerable points we couldn't handle. We could take them, but with heavy losses we didn't want. So instead, we locked them all down and waited to see who blinked. They smacked in local...apparently we are carebears? Come to our hole, we'll show you a few things...and admitted they wouldn't GCC. So we played gate games, jumping back and forth to see who was with whom. While on Kourmonen side of the gate, with the pack staring us down as we hugged the gate, an Apoc warped at range. A mix of my colorblindness and the mass on my overview meant I failed to see the yellowbox that went red. He sniped down my dear Distant Illusion in cold blood. My new family doesn't take kindly to that and his brood didn't seem to react as they jumped his newly flashy self. Grave mistake, my friend. It was too easy for them to get under guns, grabbing tackle and burning him into dust and ashes. I was avenged, a warning to those that face us. Trading a BS or a Blackbird? Dumb choice.
It would mark the end of our night, however. My noobship made me nervous so I reshipped to a Caracal with a few modules to make it home. Another first and a good preview if I get into a Cerberus. 75km range? Surprising and rather awesome. We finally made it back to good ole' wspace and home where I fully fit my new toy. A good night and good practice for us. Hopefully we get more chances like this every now and again. So now I have a few hours before I need to be up to interview and then go to class. Today we record! I'm quite excited. This idiocy is going to be addressed, among other finer things. Stay tuned.
Long post is long. Sowwy.

Sowwy.

Celebrity Night
I just had one of the best fleets. In fact, I'm still shaking from the adrenaline rush. And talk about a celebrity bunch to fight too. But a set up is in order.
So, I had and still have at the moment a clean C2 I wanted to run. I couldn't get any interest in it when I called for roles so I decided to join a fleet that was forming up. I could tell it was going to be interesting when I saw some roles that were different from normal. So naturally I took my Blackbird. However, this time I decided to buy some rigs since I have yet to do that on cruisers. So I picked up some ECM rigs and remembered I didn't have the skill trained. So I had to wait 21 min with the rigs in my hold while the fleet started to move into low sec right off of Hek.
We were moving quickly and our FC seemed to know where he was headed for a fight. We made it a few jumps out from Hek and then ended up gatecamping for a while. Normal Uni fleet til then. We were then told to jump into the next system and gate camp the upcoming gate for a while. I was nearly to the gate when all of a sudden I hear "Check, Check! Flashy Domi on gate" and just as I get on grid I see it is none other but Nashh Kadavr himself. Locking him down I started my newly strengthened jams and got lucky. But not before he let loose his Warrior II's on me, forcing me off field before I popped. It was good because as I leave, a flashy fleet jumps in and primaries are called. Blood rushing hard now, I am impatient to bounce back at range. My overview flooded with angry flashes and I was surprised at the big names. Red Vegas, Flashfresh, Nashh, Kingwood, and a few others had decided to jump us. Too bad they didn't know we had our own secrets, in the form of cloaked torps unleashing their fury. I landed jams on all the big names I could see just for the KM, which ended up leading to my downfall.
Jams cycled and I watched my brackets to make sure I wasn't targeted. Nashh had gone down hard and Flashfresh was called primary before Kingwood was on field. Our FC seemed to have a grudge with KW, so he was next on the list as well as podded. It seems I had a bit of celeb shock and too much adrenaline because I noticed the yellow box from Fizixx in a Drake. I did get a jam on him as I was spamming warp but not before I watched my armor melt and ended up in my pod. I cannot see a better way to lose my Blackbird. There were two other kills before the big battle was over. So I bounce and dock up for my noob ship, only to hear there's a Loki toying with us off the Arnher gate. So I warp to the gate and orbit, waiting for a warp in just to get in on the KM. I didn't care if I got popped and podded this time either. With such a good fight, I was high and ready to kill or be killed. While I waited, I looted some decent T2 from one of the Cane wrecks, which helped soften the loss of my beloved cruiser, Burned Illusion. My first rigged one too.
So, my first run in with celebs besides the infamous Lady S and it made for a great night. Now I think I'll wind down my murdering the Sleepers in that C2.
