Blood of Valhalla

My son went down for a nap and I decided to see what was going on in the Eve universe. Usually during the day it is rather dead and I end up just looking at ship fits, haul a bit of gas or rock around, or talk to whoever is on at the time.

I did most of that this time. Although, thankfully I got on around the time a few corpmates were scanning out the last few holes in our chain. For a time there wasn't much to see or do. There were a few active and flying ships in one of the dead end holes, which we were hoping to catch and kill. Alas, nothing came of it.

But our attention was drawn a few holes over where we found a POS that was left entirely undefended. By that I mean it was void of defensive modules on the outside. That's just too tempting to pass up. If that wasn't enough, there was quite the list of ships inside the forcefield.

Two Revelations, a Chimera, a Charon, Nidhoggur, a bunch of T3s and a few others.

But they are being boring and annoying by shipping into and out of the Chimera multiple times, warping in and out of the POS and so on.

So I got bored. And then warped to their POS. And kind of shot at it in my Cynabal...cuz I can.

Even then it took them a few minutes to notice and react. The Tengu motored his way out of the shields and threw a few volleys at me. It tickled. Others reshipped and warped out or just plain logged off entirely. That's just plain disappointing. After all we knew they had skirmished with our friends in TRECI just this day, they had left their EC-300s 300km off the POS.

When he retreated I cut my engines to see what they might do. That was when one of our scouts mentioned combat probes that were right on top of us. Sneaky little things, those probes can be.

So I warped back to our connecting wormhole and jumped through, to see if they knew where it was and would follow me. Sure enough, the Loki was a couple minutes behind me and jumped through. I had been orbiting at range and when he broke cloak was too far to bump him. He wimped out and just cloaked anyways, even when all he could see was my Cynabal. Lucky for him since I had been joined by a cloaked Pilgrim.

It then turned back into a waiting game...which I again grew bored of and warped away. I made it all the way back to our home system before they did anything. And then it was a whole lot of things.

The Loki was joined by more T3s and then did some jumping. They all ended up on their side of it, though, and most of them warped off. However, a Tengu had not. That was when we sprung into action, with our scout grabbing an initial tackle. The rest of us piled on, including a very ballsy covert ops frigate.

What a tough nut to crack he was, too. We didn't have spectacular dps, but he was webbed down and apparently had polarized himself. He forced one of our cloakies out and decided to take a few shots at me instead. We ate away at his shields bit by bit until he was bleeding into armor. That was when his friends finally showed up again. Not before he was blown into oblivion.

A Loki landed first, followed by a Scorpion off at 70km and more incoming. So I quickly looted the Tengu's wreck and called for everyone to jump out. As they did so I locked up the Loki and got his attention with a few good rounds of Fusion.

Then it was my turn to jump.

I began to burn off the hole and got ready for the party to come with me. They all piled after and apparently they decided they just loved me since I got red-boxed immediately. A Raven Navy and others added to the blob of hardware. My shields dropped to half, nearly causing me to think they might actually kill me. So I told the rest to get themselves out safely and continued my way off the hole. It was a bit slower than I would have like, being webbed and pointed and jammed at one point, but I kept shooting. Capless guns are so much fun that way.

It was an odd thing that happened next. I should probably mention my Cyclone is dual ASB fit. So when I saw it drop to half shields, I kicked in some tanking and it shot from half to full in one go. That must have discouraged them more than I thought it could because I was still boating my way 30+km off the hole and they started jumping out.

That fleet...jumping out...when all that was left was my Cyclone and abandoned drones. A nice WTFmoment right there.

I wasn't going to complain so I lit my warp drive up. I was still webbed but they had lost point on me. So I slid into the tunnel and went homeward with a hold of shiny faction loot.

We had some log ons of our own, hoping for a good old fashioned slugfest with the forces they had showed but in the end it just ended up with us shooting at their POS while they logged off and were generally pretty boring.

For losing a bil, I was thinking they would want blood in the worst way. Oh well, my Cyclone proved itself admirably and I had fun blooding it. Top damage no less.

So the next time I see comments like this:

[22:25:11] Cpt Solano > i remember when adhoc used to fight not gank
[22:25:21] Cpt Solano > no wait they used exploits wolololol
[22:25:31] MooCowofKow > aharm?
[22:25:43] Cpt Solano > same shit isnt it
[22:25:47] MooCowofKow > nope
[22:25:48] Cpt Solano > wh elite pvp
[22:25:53] Cpt Solano > all the same group
[22:26:00] KAOS Maximus > wait.. what is this?
[22:26:03] StrydeTaz > I remember when low sec pirates brought fights. instead of ganking freighters

I'll just start linking killmails that say otherwise. (That quote is entirely unrelated but was stated in a situation where 2 of ours killed a hauler. The other bits of ignorance are wholly amusing too and there was much more than that, but I'll leave it at snickering instead of explaining the stupidity.)

So, go out and blow something up. You don't need a lot of pilots. Just a lot of courage and disregard for your clone's well-being.

Olga Got Thirsty

So I haven't really come up with a better name yet...sue me. It fits her after all, being so big and...well not that I am implying anyone named Olga is necessarily big, but..you know....oh nevermind.

Last week or so I saw fit to release my beautiful beast from the shackles of station life, tentatively undocking and vigorously spamming the warp command until she was safely away. My poor mouse. Happily, she gracefully slid into motion like a massive pair of hippie pants, albeit deadly hippie pants. She is not quite as ludicrously expensive as she will be sometime soon, but she is enough so that I can make good use of her. Or stare at while in the relative safety of the shiny bubble I call home.

I figure there are few times I shall use her, but I shall find as many as I can. Frankly, I surprised myself tonight by using her before I even thought her fit to do so. Oh, but I quite enjoyed it and it left me wanting more so let me regale you, my dear reader.

As I logged into comms, things were peaceful and I drifted away from my station to be with a pretty lady. After a bit of watching sharks on the tele, I heard comms get a bit chatty. So I nipped over to see what the fuss was about and it seemed to be that we had some neighbors getting a bit cheeky. And by cheeky, I mean they tried to scan down some of our pilots who were innocently mining away. So there was talking and some scouting and analyzing and some eyes that glazed over after the minutes just dragged on. Admittedly I owned said eyes, but it really did just drag. This went for a long time, til finally we had been sitting on our connecting hole with a few chaps when one of them decided to have a poke about.

  Bad move, mate.

His little covert ops frigate made a mighty dash and got a cloak up. With a bit of grumbling we sped around until he made an encore appearance. I don't think he got along with our fastlock. And then off went his pod, bouncing around the system avoiding us. And here we just wanted to help him find his way out...through some cloning facilities, perhaps, but in the nice way of course.

Apparently he got bored, since he logged. This got his buds into a bit of motion as they were bouncing all over at range on their side. I guess they wanted their friend back, but obviously not that badly if they weren't going to come get him. So it went for a loooong time, us watching them try to decide to do like a barrel of ADD fish. At this point I had gotten into a frigate to catch the pod and our fleet had diminished drastically. I felt a bit vulnerable and fragile, so I decided to get a bit beefier. Hence Olga coming out to play. Even this was in a bit of jest, since I never thought to actually use her. Just pretend to crash our hole and force their hand or give them shiny bait. The hippie pants can be quite compelling.

More back and forth between the two sides and finally one of ours logs in with his Mach to go straight for them. At this point, the opfor finally amassed two Tengus, a Rokh, Legion, Proteus, Scorpion, and a Harbringer. I thought there were more T3s but it's late so who knows. Anyways, they decide to finally engage our poor lone Mach. This brings the rest of our fleet, which had refilled and then some to quite the force. Then it was on.

I urged Olga through the wormhole with soothing murmurs of blood to come. She must have understood, because she went eagerly. The only Tengu to actually arrive was first on the menu, but out of my range so I went to work on the Legion who was in hump range. Webs and point on, drones launched and snack time commenced as he graciously began to melt. It was not quick enough, however, as he decided to jump out of the fray. Sad Vindi is sad. Back to the Tengu!

No matter, there are others about. It was at this point I noticed neuts from the Rokh eating my capacitor away. So like a booze hound begging for change, I drank from the faucet of cap boosters and kept my point bouncing around to targets I didn't hear were pointed. Bad idea that, since the Legion came back through and poofed away along with the Rokh leaving our party. No worries, as we had a few others to chew into. As an ECM enthusiast, it was my pleasure to burn this terribad fit into space since he had been shutting down most of our points. Then I noticed the naughty little Harby that was trying to sneak out the back, like some bad houseguest. Well, 90% webs will do the trick for that and make short work of poor manners.

Alas, twas all that we would have of these fellows after we cleared the field of debris. I guess their friend was not worth it as we soon found his corpse in space...what a tease. At least it has a good home now.

It felt good to get a bit of blood all over Olga, she's kinky like that. It also gave me a good gauge for what she can handle as far as cap warfare and engagement range or engagement type. But I loved every second of it, expense justified.

And with that I bid you adieu. I believe I shall make my fashionably late analyzation of the latest dev blogs in my coming posts, but for now sleep beckons.

When You Have More Isk Than Sense...

"Combat probes within 4 AU of us."

The alert certainly got all of us perked up as we camped a connection, waiting for the residents of that hole to come out and play.  A few moments later there was more comm chatter, "Falcon on scan now. Get ready, they have us pinpointed."

With opportunities from two directions, this was getting interesting. We had popped a few of the idiots on top of their POS and stolen all of their POS modules. Don't leave your stuff unanchored around us. They had a carrier pilot logged in and we were hopeful, but nothing had happened in a while. In such a mixed fleet, we weren't sure what this new contact would turn out to be.

One of our pilots decides to find where they came from, finding a new connection in system and waiting on it. Fifteen minutes go by without anything happening from either side. Then we find out what found us.

"Tengu on sca--Tengu on grid, Tengu on grid."

The scout then called out more targets. Three Tengus, Eos, Drake, and two Scimitars. That can be a nasty fleet in the right hands. It didn't seem to be, though, since the Tengu dropped on us alone...then a Loki and another Tengu..then the Drake...and the Falcon decloaked, I had jams on all of them except the Drake. I was suddenly quite happy I had 3 Caldari jammers from a previous fight.

Two of our pilots had gone to their home connection, holding back the Eos even though it was still providing bonuses. They harassed it into jumping back out and the Scimitars decided to hang back to keep it alive. That was a big mistake.

Their fleet engaging our main force didn't know we held reserves and started jumping into the hole we had been camping. We pursued after taking care of a the Drake and his pod. I had to bounce, once to get rid of incoming damage when they initially dropped onto us and then again because I had come back at range. By the time I was able to jump in and lock the targets, they were starting to bleed into armor and on their way to space dust and shiny loot. Seriously...more ISK than brains it seems.

They seemed to start panicking because they were jumping back and forth through holes like rabbits, getting polarized and letting our teams work them down to nothing. We lost the Loki somewhere in the system we killed those Tengus, so we moved back to two systems over to finish off the Eos. The scimitars were burning away from us and I couldn't jam them correctly the entire time, so they were able to GTFO.

So, while we were hoping for a carrier to come play I will definitely settle for over 7 billion from those guys and no losses for us. The best part was that so much of the faction loot dropped for us. Shiny, shiny ISKies. This also ended a semi-dry spell for my Pvp. Quite a nice way to do so, I'd say. Our fleets are getting more and more deadly, even when it's a scramble.

I am finishing off Vs for my Tengu and thinking I might try level 4 missioning. Never done it alone and I hear it's good money so I could put this thing to use. I am working on getting a different ship for our fleets to rock the dps. Man...I am so ADD with my training.

Wherein We Melt Face and New Shinies

"Check check, hostiles are within four AU of my position. They are incoming." Mem listened to his corp mate over the channel beneath the safety of his cloak.

He watched his overview blink. "No, they are on grid now. Buzzard and Drake he--check that, 'Phoon with 3 drakes, phobos, and more landing."

It seemed that sitting at the sun did work quite well, even if it screamed bait. The hostiles seemed obliging and it was about time. It had been a while since Mem had been in a good fight and they had taken their time to take the bait.

"Please jam the Drakes as quickly as possible." His corpie instructed.

"Consider it done." Mem replied as he de-cloaked and began locking down the entire enemy force, aligning to the nearest planet. Never enough Caldari jamming programs when I need them, he thought with annoyance.

He started the counter measures on as many ships as he could, most doing their duty while some failed. The buzzard was starting to burn out of the Phobos' bubble and toward Mem, so he released his drones and assigned them to it along with a counter measure that was freed up as a Drake warped out. His fleet was beginning to land.

"Bubble is down, start landing points, people."

Ships began to bleed shields and armor was stripped from their hulls, the damage mounting more as ships continued to land.

Soon the field was silently strewn with pulverized pieces of titanium metal and frozen corpses. The wreckage was already being looted and the fleet reforming back on their connecting wormhole.

"I'll salvage the Phobos wreck, the rest aren't worth it." He keyed over comms. It was always good to get some use out of so much destruction.

Chatter was droning between fleet members, but he didn't notice until someone called out.
"Chimera, repeat they have pulled out a Chimera and they are reshipping into a shield gang."

Memoo recloaked and started motoring towards a planet, just in case. It proved a prudent decision, since a Sleipnir landed a few moments later.

  ****-------****

The fight was pretty cool and the fact that they brought round two was even better. We don't run into many people willing to bring the fight in wspace. And lately it seems killing carriers is becoming a regular thing for us. Best way to describe it was something two corpies said later:

-Most people must see a carrier and run away. ADHC froths at the mouth...
-Yeah people with carriers think they are scary. They are a flame to our moths.

The amazing part was how fast we reacted. We didn't have logi, but they had a basi on scan so a couple of ours reshipped very quickly and, I have to say, our Falcons did a stand up job. Not that I'm biased. Of course not.

The rest of the fight went well, with the subcap enemies warping in and out when we lost points, but not doing much of anything to us. The last to be around was a Ferox getting reps from the carrier even though it was only a matter of time til he succumbed. A Tengu also kept warping in at range, each time I was able to perma-jam him thankfully. I hate even yellow boxes as an ECM pilot. It was the best fight I've had in a long time and they even had a good time, giving GFs in local. I'm proud of our guys..and gals ;) for their awesome efforts on such short notice. Of course, this is taking place when I'm supposed to be doing work, but don't tell anyone.

Beyond that? After the fight, we had a good kspace link and I went out in my pod to Jita. Waiting there was my brand new and beautiful Tengu. Ooooh yeeaaaa, I have finally become a Tech 3 owner and lover. I've fought with myself between 2 or 3 diff types of fits due to my limited ISK. I think I am happy with what I have, I'll get the other subsystems another day when I recoup the financial hit. For now, I am giddy as a...well I am happy. There's even ECM subsystems *evil cackle*
